WNBL CAREER NOTES: Mia joined the Fire for the 2011/12 season and played 18 games plus two finals. Mia played in all 22 games for the Adelaide Lightning in season 2010/11 and averaged a career-best 13 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game… She was named ‘Best Defensive Player’ for the club. Mia won the WNBL Player of the Week Award for Round 2 for her outstanding performance against the West Coast Waves; In the 2009/10 season she played in 22 games, she averaged 7 points, 1.5 assists, and 3 rebounds per game. Mia was named Best Defensive Player for the club... In the 2008/09 season Mia posted averages of 5.4 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists... In 2007/08 Mia averaged 10.6 points in 23 games for the AIS... She averaged 5.2 points, 2.0 rebounds per game in 21 games for the AIS in 2006/07... In her two games in 2005/2006 she averaged 8.5 points and 2.0 rebounds per game.

GENERAL BASKETBALL CAREER: 2011 Mia played for the Launceston Tornadoes in the SEABL… 2009 Member of the CABL All Star 5. Member of the Forestville Eagles women’s team that won the CABL championships in 2005 and 2009… Mia competed at the FIBA U19 World Championships in Slovakia 2007 (finished 5th)... She won the ‘top 3-pt award” at those championships and averaged 7.7pts and 2.2 rebounds per game. She was an SA State and Sports Institute representative 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 & 2007… Captain twice. She played for Forestville Eagles in the Bank SA league and represented SA Metro at the Australian Junior Championships; U16 in 2003, U18 in 2004-05 and U20 2006... Mia was selected for Australian Junior Camps in 2004 and 2006...

Mia has one brother Brad, who plays for the Australian Boomers. She is studying a Bachelor of Education (Junior Primary) at Flinders. Her favourite places in the world are Rome and London. Mia used to play the piano and a distant relative of hers is Bernard Fanning. She likes old music, is terrified of rats and her favourite food is Laksa noodles and cheese.

COACH’S COMMENTS: After an unfortunate injury at the start of last season, Mia finished 2011/2012 on a high proving why she is a star of the future. She is a young, tall, athletic guard that has the ability to guard the 2, 3 or 4. Mia is a crucial piece of the Townsville Fire puzzle, and will be looked upon to step up her game to another level this season.
