15 & Under – Coach Roey Bice

The Central Murray Netball League 15 & Under team competed in the LOUD State Championships in Melbourne on the weekend.  The competition was as expected, tough and physical and the girls adapted themselves to this.

Some of the netball was played in very wet and dangerous conditions. CMNL had two of their five games outdoors; the first resulting in a draw on the bell against Ballarat.  Their second game was played indoors, here they adjusted quickly and held a 2 goal lead at half time over Diamond Creek only to be outplayed in the second half and lose by 1 goal.  The girls couldn’t match the stronger Shepparton side in very slippery conditions in their second outside game, going down by 4 goals. Their remaining two games resulted in another draw against the higher fancied Waverley team and a defeat by Ellinbank by 6 goals,

The team, although not recording a win, were very competitive and should be very pleased with their performance as there was very little difference between the six teams.  Claudia Powell played excellent in defence for Central Murray. Tess Denham, Jess Paynter, & Maddie Jeans were also consistent contributors throughout the day.
