Both venues are located approximately 2km from city centre and are easily accessible by public transport.
Age Categories*
Men / Women
Singles: 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+
Doubles: 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+
If the two players in a doubles pair fall into different age groups, they must play together in the younger age category. Nomination of doubles partners will take place at the start of the Games during accreditation at Federation Square. Tennis will have an information desk at accreditation and this is where you nominate your partner or nominate that you require a partner.
If you already have a partner you can nominate to play with them, if not the tennis organisers will try their best to match you with a suitable partner.

Events
Mens Singles, Womens Singles
Mens Doubles, Womens Doubles, Mixed Doubles
Note: Entries accepted for a maximum of two events. Competitors may only select one Singles, Doubles or Mixed Doubles event.
Grade Definition
The tournament includes events at two different levels: Open and Recreational.
Open players: are those competitors who hold, or have held, national, state, or regional rankings or who compete in the higher levels of inter-club competition.
Recreational players: are those competitors who play club competitions or tournaments in the middle to lower grades and those who play socially with friends.
Tournament Structure
Preliminary Round Robin competition in pools of four players (four pairs in doubles) followed by Championship and Consolation events in all grades. Top two players (or pairs) from each Round-Robin pool qualify for the Championship event, while third and fourth players (or pairs), qualify for the consolation event. Both Championship and Consolation events will be single elimination (knock out).
Note: Round Robin pools may be three players (pairs) where the number of entries is not a multiple of four.
Match Format
All preliminary round robin and consolation event matches will be of one tiebreak set. Championship event matches will be the best of three tiebreak sets.
Competition Standards
The tennis competition at the Games will be conducted under the auspices, rules and regulations of the International Tennis Federation and will also conform to any special requirements of the International Masters Games Association (IMGA).
Tennis Australia will conduct the competition.
Practice Facilities
Practice courts will be available at Melbourne Park, 9.00 AM 6.00 PM from Saturday 28 September up until the commencement of the Games. Court availability is expected to be limited close to tournament commencement, so time limits and court sharing arrangements will apply
Equipment Repairs
On-site restringing will be available at both venues during practice and the Games.
