Avatea welcomes Tahiti
The main contingent of Team Tahiti was on hand for the welcome prepared by Avatea School.
The ceremony included the raising of the Cook Islands and Tahitian flags and the planting of tiare Maori Team Tahiti were very much involved in the welcome programme as firstly the local CICC minister, Tereora Tereora, is a fluent speaker of the Tahitian language, the principal prefaced her MC duties with an introduction in Tahitian, and speakers from the local Tahiti community also welcomed the team on behalf of those who have now made their home here on Rarotonga.
