Medal ceremony highjacked.
Every day medals and floral tributes are presented to honour the winners of the sporting events that are part and parcel of the Pacific Mini Games.
With 15 codes and multiple events at each venue, preparation for each medal ceremony is a full-time operation for the volunteers. The entire ceremony is orchestrated by a specially designated medal ceremony team to ensure that the tributes and the actions of the ceremonial team befit this important occasion.
The protocol of the medal ceremony at one particular venue was not replicated by its event organizers. The medal ceremony team did not appreciate being relegated to the washroom or outside on the grass to prepare for the their ceremonial duties.
Medal presentation programmes have been prepared to give fair representation and acknowledgement to both Sponsors and VIPS. This programme was highjacked by the event organizers of one venue who ignored the planned presentation schedule and seriously prejudiced their relationship with a major sponsor.
