Cook Islands lose to Fiji

The haka of the Cook Islands team helped to spur the team to a battle of a game, but in the end they lost valiantly to Fiji 24-18

Crunching tackles by the Fijians occasionally brought individual Cook Islands players to a standstill but did not put a stop to their determination to persevere right to the end.

The strength of the Fijian speedsters was demonstrated by one Cook Islands tackler who was dragged along the ground for at least a couple of metres before the ball was offloaded to another player who moved on to get a try for Fiji.

Within minutes of the start of the second half of play Fiji were up 22-12. But the Cook Islands team persisted to add more points to finish the game at 24-18.
