The Cook Islands team had given it their best shot in a valiant attempt to gather the Gold Medal for their country. But the Fijians had other ideas and were virtually unstoppable in their determination to get the ball to the line as often as possible. They took advantage of the opportunities given to them when spaces opened up to allow them to touch down.

Singing and cheering the Fijian team along, were crowds of Fijian supporters on the bank who took advantage of a great game against the Cook Islanders and eventually a win in the final to take home the gold medal.

The medal was presented to the Team by Dianna Clarke, Executive Director of CITC.
