Young Kiwi’s Dream Team

Ten-year-old Nadia Sziranyi chattered animatedly to her mother during just about the whole of New Zealand’s game against Trinidad and Tobago.  She watched in awe at the passes that NZ centre Camilla Lees appeared to just toss into a space. The ball would be deftly plucked from the air by one of her fellow team members and driven to the goal circle. This is a skill that Nadia too, as the centre for her own school’s netball team, aspires to perfect. Nadia attends St Peter and Paul’s Catholic School in Wellington and is holidaying on Rarotonga. She was thrilled to be able to watch a New Zealand game before she returns home on Saturday. She is sure to take back some important points about match-play for the school team.  When asked if she would like to be a Silver Fern when she grows up, she replied “Maybe...”
The New Zealanders won comfortably against Trinidad and Tobago with a score of 89-31.
