CITC launch 'We care' campaign

CITC staff and PMG volunteers shared in the launch of CITC’s WE CARE campaign in the shed of their Building Centre opposite Avatiu Wharf. CITC generously provided refreshments to all the participants in Tuesday’s event. The purpose of the gathering was to explain exactly how CITC plans to sponsor the Pacific Mini Games. General Manager, Gay Whitta, introduced the launch with a warm welcome and proceeded to explain the company’s plans for the National Environment Service and local schools in the adopt-a-school programme. The environment will be kept clean and tidy with wheelie bins from the Building Centre.
Five sections of CITC will be assigned to five schools on Rarotonga  - Avarua, Avatea, St Joseph, Takitumu and Rutaki . These sections will work with the schools as they carry out their hosting responsibilities to the countries of the Pacific who will be taking part in the games.
Tetari Mitchell has been working with schools for several weeks now and said that every school has been working hard since the World Youth Netball Championships to learn the anthems and introductory vocabulary of the second country they will host in their schools, in the same number of months.  Our children are becoming quite cosmopolitan as the country is flooded with visitors, first for the youth netball champs and now the mini games.
Ms Whitta’s presentation ended with a film of the production of the company’s WE CARE logo which involved every CITC worker to form the words “WE CARE”. This took place on the field of the Tereora Stadium (soon to be renamed the BCI Stadium). It made for an impressive sight. CITC is leading the way in getting everyone in their company involved and encouraging others to contribute in some like manner towards the country’s efforts to make these the best games ever.
