Stepping up for the country

“We’re stepping up for the country!” says bank manager Vaine Arioka.
With that motivation, the Bank of the Cook Islands general manager signed an agreement on Thursday to sponsor the Pacific Games.  The deal is worth $500,000.
Being able to contribute significantly to the pride of the nation was important to the bank.  It reaped public goodwill and boosted staff morale, while giving them pride of place in the event.
And it challenged the bank in a positive way, says Arioka.
“We’re really putting ourselves in the front line to be recognised.”
“It’s quite daunting, but at the same time very rewarding,’ Arioka admitted, acknowledging the bank had received a lot of compliments and encouragement for contributing to the public good.
By investing in the games, Arioka says the bank is hoping for a pay back in goodwill and clientele.
“We would like to see the people investing in us; see them become a part of BCI”.
Pacific Mini Games chief executive officer Mac Mokoroa, said on Thursday that he was extremely happy that the BCI was behind the games.
He said the bank was an appropriate sponsor because they were a national bank with branches throughout the Cook Islands.
“They have not limited their services just to sponsorship but have also assisted us with their staff in the ticketing process,” he said. “And they have helped us with the storage of medals.
“They have taken the extra mile in supporting us and for this we are very grateful.”
