Principals meet with PMG logistics team

School principals from Rarotonga gathered at Avarua school to meet up with members of the PMG infrastructure division. Anthony Turua who leads the logistics section arranged for them to meet with other key members to find out what the situation is. Staff and students of our Rarotonga schools are getting ready for the arrival of their overseas guests. Each school has been assigned one large or two smaller contingents from overseas.
Elizabeth Ponga was able to give them the latest information about where teams are going to be hosted and how much equipment will be transferred to these sites in the next week.  Tanya Temata, who is second in charge of the infrastructure division told them that everything was ready to go, and explained exactly what was going to arrive and when.
There were concerns among the group about volunteers who had been recruited for school related activities, only to find that they had been collared by other divisions for different tasks. The schools say it is certainly frustrating to find that they must reorganise their schedules.
An important  task for schools is security. Tearoa Tini is in charge of this aspect of the schools’ role with regards to hosting. Principals are already sorting out volunteers to carry out this essential role to keep our guests and their belongings safe and secure within our communities.
