Preliminary Final – Eastern Devils vs Darebin Falcons
Northcote Park (Bill Lawry Oval) – Sunday 4 August – 12.30 pm
The remaining spot in the Premier Reserve Grand Final is up for grabs this weekend, with Melbourne Uni to take on the winner of Darebin and Eastern.
Both sides are coming off contrasting semi-final results – the Falcons secured a win against St Kilda to end a three-game losing streak, while the Devils lost to the MUGARS for the second game in succession after winning eight in a row.
As has been the case for most of 2013, Kate Tyndall and Kate Scodellaro led the way for Darebin – while Georgia Hammon played a starring role in front of goal with four majors.
For Eastern, Sarah Perkins took her goal-kicking tally beyond 30 with two of the Devils’ three semi-final goals against Melbourne Uni, while Anna Meldrum and Louise Grant were two new names in the best column.
Darebin were the form side in the first half of the season, and the Devils in the second, but only one of them can make the final – all will be discovered this Sunday at Northcote Park.
Last Time They Met
Sarah Perkins kicked five and Olivia Crowe two goals in Round 11, as the Eastern Devils came from behind at quarter time to beat Darebin by 31 points. The Falcons trailed by two goals at the final change but could not come back, despite two goals each from Sharon Roussos and Louise Potter.
