In his first season in the sport, Rowan Page exceeded all expectations as a member of the under 16 team who were Grand Final runners-up. Playing a key position at centre half back, Page's athletic ability saw him continually repel the raids of opposition teams and use his speed to counter attack. He was awarded the Club Champion trophy and was voted the Under 16 Best & Fairest player. Best & Fairest runner-up and SEQ Bushranger squad member, Will Sutton, who also had a stellar season, was the mainstay of a team that was the junior club's only representation in the AFLBJ grand finals. Sutton's performances and contributions were often the difference between the Pumas and opposition teams throughout the season. Other under 16s awards included Mitchell Hughes who won the Parents' vote's award, the Coaches' award recipient was Taylor Pezzalato, and the McCloy brothers, Nathan and Cameron were deserved joint winners of the Most Improved Award. Tiger Monk and Alex McDonald shared the accolades in the Players of the Finals Award. One of the most prestigious perpetual awards at the Club's presentation nights is the Kevin Duke Shield, which acknowledges the contribution of players throughout their junior football at the club and recognises their potential to advance to higher levels of representation in the game. Fittingly, under 16 players Will Sutton and Tiger Monk were announced as joint winners of the shield. After taking out the Club's Under 14 Division 3 Best & Fairest Award, the Springwood Club's Junior Achiever's perpetual shield was awarded to Angus Hubert who also won the AFLBJ award for this season. Best & Fairest runner-up in the team that fought out semi finals football was Josh Gunn. The Parents' vote's award went to goal kicking maestro Sam Whatley, the Coaches' Award to team captain Conor McCaig, Kevin Moran won the Most Improved Award, and Mitchell Ramsey was announced as Player of the Finals. In the under 14 Division 5 awards, Mitchell Pullen was voted the Best & Fairest player with Jed Bald as runner-up. The Parents' vote's award went to James Foster, the Coaches' Award to Hayden Williams, while the Most Improved Player awardee, Lachlan Hargraves, was also adjudged the Player of the Finals. Jared Isbel was awarded the Best & Fairest trophy in the under 12 team, while Ashley McDonald was runner-up. Nick Halpin won the Parents' votes for the season, the Coaches' Award went to Kyle Evans, and Jeremy Ayling was announced as the Most Improved player. Parents in attendance showed their appreciation of their dedication and efforts as the evening's MC Paul Gunn and Club's Junior Football Coordinator Stewart Stinton thanked the coaches Geoff Driscoll, Dave Bald, Ian Green, Steve Purdy, Tim O'Connor, Shane Monk and Rob Pezzalato, the team managers Karen McDonald, Brian Palmer, Anne Whatley and Terry Hogan and club and team sponsors. Club Patron and State Member for Springwood, Barbara Stone MP attended the evening and presented several recipients with their respective awards. Under 18 and Senior Reserves player for much of the season, Luke Ruf, was recognised for his milestone of 150 games for the club. Also recording their 100th game for the club this season were Ryan Driscoll, Joshua Gunn, James Halpin, Kevin Moran, Jerry Palmer, Corey Driscoll, Taylor Pezzalato and David Ritchie. Ian Green, assistant coach of the under 14's Div 5 team was recognised for his contributions to junior football in being awarded the Junior Committee Perpetual Shield. Best Clubmen were Ben Wall and Joshua D'Allura who assisted Coordinator Stewart Stinton throughout the season. 2008 season sign-on days are usually in early February and will be advertised in a local newspaper and on the Springwood Pumas website.
