The Bendigo Bank Maryborough Castlemaine District FNL is pleased to confirm that following an inspection of Princes Park Maryborough yesterday by members of the MCDFNL Executive – along with members of the Central Goldfields Shire staff – that Princes Park has been confirmed as the venue for the 2010 Bendigo Bank MCDFNL Grand Final.
The MCDFNL were pleasantly surprised by the significant amount of cooch grass that has began coming through the soil in the past week, and note that with further favourable weather conditions expected in the next 1 ½ weeks – until the MCDFNL Grand Final on Sunday 26th September – that further growth can be expected.
Whilst it is disappointing that surface of the oval at Princes Park will visually be quiet poor due to the failure of the grass to grow over the course of the season, importantly the surface will be flat and in a safe condition for participating players.
The MCDFNL do appreciate the efforts of the Central Goldfields Shire staff to get the oval “up” for the Grand Final (and likewise to prepare alternative venues for earlier finals), and whilst it is disappointing that Princes Park will not be in its best condition for the leagues showpiece game, it is the view of the MCDFNL and CGS staff that the oval will be a satisfactory condition for the occasion and it therefore remains the league’s preferred venue for our Grand Finals.
