Round 3 MEN- Jason Cameron (SW Metro Pirates)

Jason Cameron of the South West Metro Pirates collects the Player of the Week Award in Round 3 of the QABL.  Cameron has been around the elite basketball circles at a state and national level for many years and his inclusion as a player/coach in the Pirates team in 2008 has proven to be nothing short of inspiring.  He is averaging 18pts, 8rbs and 2asts per game this season and hit a season high of 37pts against the Mountaineers on Saturday night, as the leading scorer across the League in Round 3.  Making up that 37pt haul, was an unheard of 11 of 19 three-pointers, with 10rbs, 2asts and 2stls.  This 52% achievement from the field was made all the more sweeter, in that it was obtained over an opposition packing strength including 7 foot American Bruce Brown and Bullet David Gurney.  With Jason Cameron leading the Pirates campaign in 2008, the team’s current second position (3 from 3) on the ladder, looks to be in a stranglehold.

Other top notch efforts from Round 3 include; Rhys Martin of the Rockhampton Rockets who’s golden hands seemed to everywhere in the teams double-header in the south (29pts, 2rbs, 7asts, 4stls followed by 20pts, 4rbs, 7asts, 4stls) with the team snatching a 1pt thriller off the Thunder (101-100) to cap off a very successful weekend; John Fitzgerald of the Meteors continues to hit big numbers with 32pts, 6rbs, 5asts, 3stls, hitting 47% from the field to send Ipswich packing (108-101); and Jason Auccoin of the Gold Coast Goannas getting busy to help the team defeat the Suns (93-82) with 24pts, 15rbs, 3asts and 5stls.
