The Speed Field Days Mallee Football League saw some great footy played this week, two one-sided affairs and a worthy contest.
Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers Vs Woomelang/Lascelles
Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers had a great win against Woomelang/Lascelles in their home game at Culgoa. The first quarter saw the Tigers kick straight when they booted a massive 9 goals 2 to the Cats 1 goal 1. The second quarter had Woomelang/Lascelles working hard for the ball but they could not contain Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers as the Tigers kicked another 5 goals 3 to the Cats 2 goals. The Tigers continued their form into the third quarter as they kicked 4 goals 8 to the Cats 1 point. The Last quarter saw Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers finished the match how they started kicking 7 goals 5 to the Cats no score. The final score was Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers 25 goals 18 to Woomelang/Lascelles 3 goals 2. The Tigers’ Scott Weekley and Colin Durie were outstanding through the mid-field. Nathan Wight kicked a massive 8 goals for his team and Bill Barry supported well in the forward line. The Cats’ Royce Free worked hard in the mid-field, Joel Donnan played well in the ruck and Trent Donnan and Todd Beasy tried hard all game.
Beulah Vs Jeparit/Rainbow
Beulah hosted a terrific game against Jeparit/Rainbow on Saturday. The Blues got a great start in the first quarter kicking 4 goals 7 to Jeparit/Rainbow just 2 points. The second quarter was a real fight with both sides kicking 4 goals each. The third quarter saw Beulah increase their lead when they kicked 5 goals 4 to the Lakers 1 goal 1. The last quarter saw the Lakers work hard to come back kicking 6 goals 2 to the Blues 2 goals 3 but unfortunately it was not enough to win the match. The Blues won the day 15 goals 17 to the Lakers 11 goals 6. Steph Saunders was outstanding for Beulah all game along with Jonathon Dixon, Kim Hallam and Dale Shannon. Jeparit/Rainbow’s Justin Cozens gave all he had for the Lakers. Corey Price, Simon Clugston and Dean Schumann all had terrific games.
Ouyen United Vs Hopetoun
Ouyen United played at home against Hopetoun on Saturday. The Demons had a rough first quarter only kicking 3 goals 2 to the Devils 2 goals 2. The Demons got away in the second quarter when they booted 5 goals 4 to Hopetoun no score. The third was another tough quarter for both sides as Ouyen United kicked 2 goals 1 to the Devils 2 points. The last quarter saw Ouyen United explode into their original form kicking 7 goals 4 to the Devils 2 goals 2. Ouyen United won the match 17 goals and 12 points to Hopetoun 4 goals and 7 points. Jacob Anstey from the Demons played a great game. Brenton Jardine, Dean Jardine and Jesse Vallance all contributed well. The Devils’ Owen Hone worked hard for his team along with Lionel Gainsford, Liam Price and Darcy Jones.
