KNOX JUNIOR FOOTBALL CLUB
PLAYING OUT OF AGE (SEASON)
-
As we are all aware the game of AFL football is a physical game and when allowing children to play outside their age group The Knox Junior Football Club must firstly consider the safety of the child, and secondly where they are capable of playing at the higher level. Keeping this in mind the EFL allows players to play only two years outside their respective age group.
-
KJFC has a history of allowing players to play outside their age group allowing children to play with friends and play at a standard that reflects their ability. At times KJFC has had to ask players to play in a higher aged side (normally only one year up) to enable the older side to field a team. If necessary this practice will continue.
-
When considering whether a player will be permitted to play outside their age group on a permanent basis KJFC will firstly ensure that no correct age player will miss out on playing with KJFC if the bottom aged player is allowed to play. In other words consideration will be given to the correct aged players before allowing a player to play outside their age group. If the side the bottom aged player wishes to play in is not full then KJFC will have to consider the players ability/size before agreeing to allow the player to play in this side.
-
Any player who has previously been allowed to play in an older age group will not automatically be permitted to play in a subsequent year.
-
If it is felt exceptional circumstances exist that a player should be considered for the older aged side, a parent must put their reasons in writing and forward them to the Secretary of the KJFC for consideration of the committee.
