Training Workshop for Coaches and Officials

On Monday 23rd May which is day one, Annie was arrived and met with the KBF. Annie was so proud to visit Kiribati and stage to the federation that it is a good opportunity to work again with KBF coaches and officials to help them develop and improve. Not just for coaches and officils improvement but would be also for the KBF and NBDO admin side to be well improved.

Annie kicks off the first course for referees on Monday afternoon at 5pm to 8pm in the KNOC boardroom, doing a presentation for theory contains the 2 person officiating rules and the 3 person officiating rules. The 3 person rules is new to referees and score tables as well which makes the referees interested to learn a lot from it and eagerly wait to run it during the on court session.

On Tuesday 24th May, Annie conducts the full day training for coaches starting from 9am to 12pm classroom session and the coaches in action training session starting at 2pm onwards. There were 15 coaches attended the second day training.

On Wednesday 25th May, the course was conducted for score tables assisting them alot understand their role on how to record correct information into the score sheet, communication with referee, rules and so forth. It is very challenging and fun as well to our score tables the way Annie reading the information and score tables trying to catch the right points, scores and fouls to be entered into the scoresheet. This could be encouraging our score tables to keep in mind their correctness and communication as well as one of their main role as score keepers.

On Thursday 26th May, the 3 person officiating was been practice to the participants keeping Annie working hard in the last day with referees and score tables. The session commences 1 hour prior the games start just for running on how to officiate games with 3 person. Annie spend the last day keeping these people captured and learned with 3 person technical rules, positioning, rotation, reporting, using the right hands signals (violation & foul), using the right hand signals for numbers and many more. After on court, NBDO and Annie identified 3 people to start off at games and continues with Annie during the third quarter and closes with Maate, Rota and Bwere during the fourth quarter start. Also that day Annie work with score tables keeping them on the right spot especially on how to operate the electronic, score sheet and the chairperson to be very active and communicate well with his/her teams on the score table.

At the end of the game, KBF and NBDO officially conducts the small closing to mark a successful end of the course for coaches and officials.

Again thanks to Annie a lot, participants, KBF and NOC for making this course a successful event.
