The December 2008 AFF General Meeting adopted the attached Anti-Doping Policy as the new national policy for our sport.
This policy has been approved by the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) and comes into effect from 1st January 2009.
This new policy contains a number of significant changes, including matters in the following areas:
- sanctions
- wherabouts management
- upgrading of the prohibited list
- abolition of the ATUEs, though some have been upgraded to TUEs and the current notifications extended to 31 December 2009
- TUEs to now go to Australian Sports Drug Medical Advisory Council (ASMAC), instead of the FIE, unless the athlete is in the FIE Registered Testing Pool (ie in the top 16 of the FIE international rankings).
It is the responbility of each fencer, including parents in the case of junior fencers, to be familiar with this new updated anti-doping policy and its requirements.
