Our 2012 season will open with preseason IDS (Illawarra Development Squad) which will run from 8/2/12 to 21/3/12. This will be a great opportunity to get ready for the season, train under a different coach, hone your skills or even introduce a friend to learn about playing AFL.
We are currently seeking player Expressions of Interest to represent NSW/ACT at the U18 Youth Girls National Championships. In 2012 the Nationals will be held in Adelaide, South Australia from the 14th – 19th May.
In 2012 NSW/ACT AFL will be offering 10 scholarships to coaches who are dedicated to coaching females, are female coaches or a combination of both. The aim is to provide an opportunity for these coaches to attend the AFL National Coaching Conference in Sydney in February with the view to increase their knowledge and understanding of coaching.
The NSW/ACT U18 National Team of 24 includes the some of the states best female AFL talent. With strong representation from the Canberra, Wagga and Riverina areas, the selection of 8 Illawarra based players demonstrates the dedication and committment of our girls.
Representing the State whilst a huge honour if also very costly with each player having to personally contribute $1000 towards costs.
The 2011 NSW/ACT U18 YG Team of 24 to travel to the Gold Coast for the National Championships has been announced.

To celebrate International Womens Day, the AFL NSW/ACT hosted a seven's tournament at the Sydney Olympic Site at Homebush. This year there was the inaugural Seven's tournament. Three Youth Girls teams participated from the Illawarra Region.
