Greg Marshall (Dec) Greg was a larger than life figure at the BUA.  Taken too soon, he was loved by all.  A tremendous record as an umpire matched by his willingness to be involved at committee level. more -->
Craig Findlay

Famously retired on the eve of the 2007 BFL Grand Final after 505 games with the BUA.  Had the priviledge of watching one of the alltime great grand finals.

To be watched on trips away, dangerous.

Ashley Donaldson

Ashley began umpiring in 1973 and continued through to 1985.  He umpired in excess of 200 games as a field umpire.  In 1982 Ashley took on the top job and steered the Association through turbulent times when the BFL threatened to sack the Bendigo Umpires.  Ashley foreshadowed that the BFL would eventually turn to the BUA for all its umpires and that the VFL would eventually withdraw its support.   After 4 years Ashley's reign at the top finished but he continues to attend all trophy presentation nights where he presents the Ian Coates Memorial trophy.

His fondest memories of umpiring include umpiring all the games in one day it Mitiamo. The thirds, seconds and firsts after Rex Nancarrow failed to turn up to umpire the Senior game.  Rex arrived at half time and then the boundary umpire got injured and Ashley finished that off.

Another highlight was free kicking Geoff Millar for hitting an opposition player in the U15's too hard.  The blow was that serious that the kid started to cry, Geoff was apparently the same size then as he is now.  I would suggest a rather imposing sight at 14.
