Mobil Co-Ed Basketball League Back for Action
The 6th Annual Mobil Oil Co-Ed Basketball League is back in action after a two months off to give way to the 2006 Micronesian Games. This league is a unique league since they include a lady player and each team is allowed to get a lady player. This season all the lady players came from the CNMI Womens National Team that just took the GOLD MEDAL in the just concluded Micronesian Games 2006. In order to get our Womens National Team ready for the Micronesian Games I have requested from Elias Rangamar who is the Womens National Team Coach to get the girls involved with the 6th Annual Mobil Co-Ed Basketball League so that the girls will get more exposure since they will be playing against mens according to Mobil league Coordinator Abner Venus.
A total of 9 teams participated in the 6th Annual Mobil Oil Co-Ed Basketball League. This league was formed for Mobil Oil Marianas customers. All the teams participating are the top customers of Mobil Oil Marianas here in Saipan and the players are employeed by the companies. This program was started by Mobil in getting their customers involved not only playing basketball but getting their customers stay fit and healthy by means of excercise and basketball is a good exercise.
The program is just great that it is up to its 6th year. The level of competition is great and each year the intensity of competition is going up. Tan Holdings was the first team that took the 1st Mobil Oil Co-Ed Basketball league followed by Microl-Toyota for the 2nd annual, Pacific Development Inc. took the 3rd annual followed by Aqua Resort Club for the 4th annual and defending champions Fiesta Resort which took the 5th Annual.
For the 6th Annual Mobil Co-Ed Basketball league,it is still too early to tell if who will run away with the trophy since most of the teams are evenly matched up. Aqua Resort is very strong since they have the height advantage, Fiesta Resort is still a strong team, while Mobil and Microl Toyota will give Aqua & Fiesta Resort a good challenge.
