2005-06 Shell NBL Season Finals

Shell NBL has outdone itself again. Another record breaking season for the league as it featured 23 teams. The top 10 teams in division I and the remaining 13 in division II. Only the top 20 teams advanced to the 1st round of the season playoffs were the match ups were; #20 vs # 11, #19 vs #12 and so on... the 5 winners of the 1st round went up against the bottom 5 ranked teams in division I (Season finals 2nd round). 11th ranked Surangel Suns was the lone division II team to advance to division I by beating 10th ranked PPR. The 3rd round saw the biggest upset of the season as the newly 10th Ranked Surangel Suns beat the 1st ranked Breakers to win a bid to the elite 5 semifinals. in the semifinals Surangel Suns again defeated Ikelauans to secure their historical mark in the coveted Shell NBL Season Finals. Peched Raw which was ranked 3rd overall defeated 2nd ranked Meda to earn their chance in the finals. Surangel Suns won Game 1 of the best of 3 series by a score of 82-73. However Peched Raw came back in game 2 to even the series by a score of 79-92 and force a 3rd and final game. The Suns being the 11th ranked overall when the season finals started were leading in the 1st 2 quarters, however Peched Raw with 4 starters in the National squad took the lead in early 3rd quarter and never relinguished it, they finished the historical run of the Suns by a score of 81-95 and won the coveted Shell Season Finals storyboard trophy.
