The eyes of the Pacific Islands were drawn to the Olympic Stadium as 9 Oceania athletes took to the track for the men’s 100m preliminary rounds. Athletes from Tonga, Palau, Tuvalu, The Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, American Samoa, The Solomon Islands, Kiribati and The Cook Islands all took part in the 4 heats.

The Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games was a spectacular event. Billions of people tuned in to watch it. For those who were lucky enough to attend, it was sure to be an unforgettable experience one that they would never forget.

While the athletes sweat their guts on the track the coaches also sweat it out in the Lecture room to attend the First ever Team Management Seminar held in Cairns alongside the Oceania Under 20 and open Championship. The management seminar was the first of its kind design by the IAAF education for Managers and Coaches who are potential and are already taking teams to major competition

The Solomon Islands Athletics Federation stages its National Championship at the Saint Josephs Tenaru sports ground starting today and ends tomorrow.

ITF Development officer for the Pacific Oceania region is in the country to monitor the Junior Mini tennis program in the country, He is Gen Ridgeway from New Zealand.

Gen took over  the Job from Mr Dan Oconnell after he was retire from the job early this year 2012. The ITF Development officer in the Oceania Pacific Region, Gen will be traveling to most of the Pacific islands to check the mini tennis progressing in the region, Gen is in the country for 4 days and will be leaving to Vanuatu on tuseday to  to check their Mini tennis  program before went back to Fiji.
