THE weekend’s action saw the first draw of the season as Albion and St Albans were tied at 48-points apiece after four quarters.
The Cats held the advantage at each break and led by 24-points heading into the final term, but three goals and six behinds was enough for the Saints to come from behind and salvage two competition points.
Both sides kicked poorly (30 behinds combined), with the total goal tally less than the number of points Albion recorded on the day.
The 6.12. (48) to 5.18. (48) draw does little in terms of ladder position, as the Saints are still in sixth place and ahead of the Cats by one game.
St Albans will battle with Werribee Districts with Albion travelling to ladder-leaders Hoppers Crossing in Round 16 action.
Three goals to one behind in the final term helped Altona escape Deer Park with a comeback win, downing the Lions 7.7. (49) to 4.8. (32).
The game was low scoring, neither side kicking a goal in the first or third quarters, with the Lions only goals coming in the second quarter.
Lochlan Allen’s best-on-ground performance and two goals was arguably the difference on the day as there was just one multiple goal kicker for either side.
The win keeps Altona a game behind second place, a battle still being decided heading into the final three rounds.
The Vikings will host Wyndhamvale at Grant Reserve while Deer Park has the week off with the round’s bye.
Hoppers Crossing extended its lead at the top of the table to at least two games over the chasing pack with a 56-point victory over Sunshine.
The Roos started strongly, booting three goals to one in the first and leading by 13-points going into the quarter break.
The restart showed why Hoppers Crossing are the presumptive premiership favourites as they outclassed the Roos, holding them to just one goal and three behinds in the final three quarters and booting 11 goals of their own.
Sunshine is now just a loss (and a Deer Park win) from possibly slipping out of the top four.
The Kangaroos will next face off with Spotswood, in what could affect finals positioning.
Sean Bermingham’s three goals were enough to help seal Spotswood’s comfortable 8.13. (61) to 0.5. (5) win over Wyndhamvale.
Another disappointing showing from the Falcons all but condemns the side to the wooden spoon.
