The Western Region Football League would like to congratulate the Braybrook Sporting Club on reaching 140 years this season.
Founded in 1874, the club will officially celebrate the milestone this Sunday, welcoming back a number of past greats as well as the many dedicated supporters and volunteers who have given so much of their time in creating what the club has become today.
Kicking off at 12noon, Club Administrator Suellen Isherwood said that the day is not only a celebration of the club’s past, but also be a toast to the future.
“The club is honoured to be a part of such a huge and historic event celebrating 140 years of grass roots football,” she said.
“The day means a lot to us at the club and not only recognises the past, but also celebrates our present and the future.”
Having won the most senior premierships in the competition with over 40 flags to their name as well as producing 27 ALF/VFL footballers in its time including Ted Whitten, Doug Hawkins and George Bisset, it’s safe to say Braybrook is one of the league’s most successful clubs.
Welcoming back former Footscray player Ray Walker to MC the day, Stony Creek Ward’s Deputy Mayor Nam Quach and Councilor Catherine Cummings will also be in attendance as well as a host of other Braybrook greats including league best and fairest namesake Barry Priest and club president Harley Smith.
