The WRFL is now approaching the completion of the initial 13 rounds of the 2014 season which will lead to the split of the Division Two and Division Three competitions.
This marks the end of the beginning, when the WRFL moves to three senior divisions which will assist with the evenness of competition, a key component of the WRFL’s strategic plan.
Last Monday the WRFL hosted a breakfast function where representatives from all division two and three clubs witnessed a random draw of both divisions, in order to determine the remaining fixtures.
With eight teams and only five rounds to be played in Division Two, a random draw was completed to ensure the fairest possible outcome for all teams. The main priority when compiling the remaining fixture was to ensure all clubs received nine home matches for the season.
With six teams and five rounds remaining in Division Three, each team will play each other once. The perfect fixture has been achieved with all teams playing each other once at home and once away over the duration of the season.
In both divisions, all points and percentages will remain after the first 13 rounds and be combined with the last five rounds, seeing both divisions compete in a final four finals format.
There will be no promotion or relegation between Division Two and Division Three at the conclusion of the 2014 finals series.
The reserves will follow the seniors into the same division as determined by the results at round 13 and will operate under the same premiership conditions as the senior divisions.
The Division Two under 18 competition will remain separate to the above and will play out the 18 round fixture as previously released. The only process that will occur after round 13 will be to try and align as many under 18 games to the home games scheduled for the seniors and reserves.
