In the lead up to the Division 1 Grand Finals, the WRFL Media team caught up with the coaches who have their final say before the first bounce on Saturday.
FINAL WORDS FROM THE COACH: SPOTSWOOD
I had high expectations of this team following on from 2013 when this team of mostly bottom age players made the preliminary final. The progression of those players combined with the addition of qualitybottom age players; including Connor Daley, Grant Williams, Nick Ryan and James Beilby has enabled us to take the next step this year. The team is excited and looking forward to the chance of winning the club’s first under 18 flag in ten years. Having the week off after our win over Werribee Districts, we trained as usual on the Tuesday and Thursday with a boxing session at The Gym in Yarraville on the Saturdaymorning. We are a very even team across all lines but I’d say the four players to keep an eye on during grand final day are Mark Nicholls, Josh Norton, Jordy Bennett and Nathan Aidonis. I'd like to thank my support staff in my Assistant Coach Trevor Carr, my runner Brad Mayberry, Team manager Glenn Davis as well as our trainers and water boys for their efforts this season. I'd specifically like to thank Tony Walshe for his mentoring role since asking me to coach this team last year and my wife Kelly for her ongoing support.

FINAL WORDS FROM THE COACH: WERRIBEE DISTRICTS
I have been involved at the Werribee Districts Football Club for about 20 years, with 12 of those years having been involved coaching junior sides for Werribee. This season has been interesting. Our best has been great to watch and our worst has been frustrating. The boys have shown a willingness to learn and develop each week. The only long term injury was to Boofa James with a knee injury earlier in the year which created opportunities for others. The feeling around the club and the team itself has been one of excitement. It has been a while since we have been in the WRFL and to make it to the Grand Final in our first year back is a great achievement. Training for today’s match has been upbeat and with intensity. The setback against Spotswood in the 2nd Semi Final opened a few eyes and showed the boys the level they need to play at for finals. The team is pretty even across the board but Jye King is one to keep an eye on. He has the potential to be a match winner and can be very hard to stop when he is firing. Also watch out for Kurt Mayne up forward and Ethan Henley down back. A general thanks to the usual suspects that help week in week out. Daniela Borg for being team manager, the mums and dads that have helped with time keeping, waterboy duties, umpires escorts and general support. Also to Aaron Hovey for being my assistant for the last few years. The help provided allows coaching to be a little bit easier.
