Check out what's making news at your favourite club from Week #3 (Feb 14-20) below:
DIVISION ONE
Albion:
There has been a bit of movement at the Cats this week with Shannon Dean shifting over from the RDFL’s Melton Centrals FC, Zane Foott from the Goulburn Valley Football League while 22-year-old Bryce Miles will make the switch from Spotswood. Playing 12 games with the seniors and another eight for the Reserves last season, Miles will depart Spotswood after playing over 200 club games in the green and gold.
Altona:
In comes 2012 Team of the Year player Cameron D’Altera from the Port Melbourne Colts. Kicking 52 goals for the Colts last season, D’Altera will prove to be handy inclusion in the Vikings forward structure. Out goes fellow 2012 Team of the Year teammate Joey Halloran who has requested a transfer to play with Werribee Districts. Playing his last game in the purple and gold in 2013, Halloran will be a solid addition to the Tigers backline.
Deer Park:
There’s good news for Kwame McHarg fans as he has officially been approved to play with the VFL’s Port Melbourne Football Club. Having had previous VFL experience with Williamstown, McHarg will get another opportunity to showcase his silky skills under coach Gary Ayres. The 23-year-old had another solid 2014 season with Deer Park, adding a premiership medallion and a Herb Pascarl medal to his trophy cabinet.
Port Melbourne Colts:
Two club favourites have departed JL Murphy Reserve this week, with Jase Perkins heading to the AFL Barwon’s St.Albans Football Club while Steve McAnulty departs to West Footscray. Kicking over 450 goals during his 12 seasons with the club, Perkins will be sorely missed in the forward line while
33-year-old McAnulty has proven he hasn’t lost touch with the game, having represented the Colts in the Senior Interleague side last season. Also departing the Colts is Ryan Pantic who heads north to play for Broadbeach FC while in comes 27-year-old Ben Smith from the Northern Football League’s Banyule Football Club.
Spotswood:
Great to see young Connor Menadue’s official transfer go through to play AFL club Richmond. Playing the majority of his junior football with the Altona Juniors Football Club, Menadue made the switch to Spotswood in 2012 where he spent three seasons in the green and gold. Dubbed as one of the best running prospects in the 2014 draft pool, the 18-year-old was a standout performer at the AFL Combine in the speed, repeat speed and endurance categories.
St. Albans:
Saints tall-man Joel West has officially put through his transfer to the NFL’s Northcote Park. A Team of the Year member for the past two seasons, West will no doubt leave a hole in the centre square after playing three solid years in the ruck.
DIVISION TWO
Glen Orden:
Returning to the Hawks’ nest this season is former Sunshine Heights player Leroy Paio, while
Mark Zammit don the brown and gold after moving on from Point Cook FC. Out goes Reserve players Matthew Hitch and Brent Henry who will remain teammates in 2015 as they travel to North Sunshine FC.
North Footscray:
Arriving at Hansen Reserve is 22-year-old Lucas Hall who joins the club after playing in the Southern Tasmanian Football League. Out goes last year’s recruit Sean Curtis, who despite playing all 18 rounds of in 2014, departs to play with the EDFL’s East Keilor Football Club.
Yarraville Seddon Eagles:
It’s a case of one in and one out for Yarraville Seddon this week as Sam Boyce flies in after shifting over from the EDFL’s Tullamarine Football Club, while out goes young Connor Ross to the VAFA’s St Kevins Old Boys.
