PORT MELBOURNE COLTS
Despite winning just four games last season, there seems to be a renewed energy at JL Murphy Reserve as the Colts prepare for a big 2015.
With Brad Julier returning to coach the seniors, the Colts are ready to build on their efforts from 2014 and work towards being a more competitive outfit.
Teams fielding in 2015:
Two teams- Seniors and Reserves
How has the pre-season been?
Our pre-season has been pretty standard, but numbers are increasing each week which is really pleasing to see.
Who are some of the noteworthy signings for 2015?
There hasn’t been any big signing this year as we are trying to concentrate on developing our younger and local players, while building a stronger relationship with the Port Melbourne community.
What are your expectations for the new season?
Our expectations are to improve on our efforts from season 2014 and to rebuild our Under 18s. We are also putting a lot of emphasis on being a more competitive unit this year as well.
Who are some of the young up and coming players to look out for this year?
Some of our young players to watch this season is Will Cardwell who played with the club last year but is doing a pre-season with Port Melbourne. Another new face to keep an eye on is Jordan Cotton who is new to the club this season, but has a lot of promising signs.
Any new coaching staff?
We have a few new coaching appointments this season, with Brad Julier leading our senior squad. The club is lucky to have Brad back on board having played with the Colts for a number of years. We would also like to welcome our new senior assistant coach Rob Coccaro as well as Ben Brown who will coach the Reserves.
2015 Captain:
Our senior captain is yet to be advised.
Upcoming events:
The club is holding a 10 Year Anniversary Premiership Reunion on Saturday May 9.
The Round 5 clash will be played at home at JL Murphy Reserve against Parkside.
