HOPPERS CROSSING
Scrapping into the top five last year by just one game, the young Hoppers Crossing outfit was a force to be reckoned with, knocking out St.Albans in the elimination final.
Despite going down to neighbourhood rivals Werribee Districts in the First Semi Final, Steven Kretiuk’s men are primed for another season of development.
Teams fielding in 2015:
This year the club is fielding 14 sides from seniors, right through to our juniors.
How has the pre-season been?
To date our pre-season has been a success with good numbers and participation levels are excellent. It’s been great for the club to see many ex-Hoppers players return back to the club after relocating to neighbouring teams in previous years.
Who are some of the noteworthy signings for 2015?
This year we’ve picked up a few midfielders and a couple of key defenders which should complement the group nicely. Among the names are Matthew Smith (mid-field) who returns after winning the 2013 club B & F, Jordan Mead (mid-field) from Williamstown VFL, former junior and under 18 captain Jarrod Arnott (key defender) and Harley Weston (key defender) from the Western Jets.
What are your expectations for the new season?
Our expectations are for our young players to take another step in their development and look to gain another years’ experience at senior level against some very good opposition.
Who are some of the young up and coming players to look out for this year?
We have had another promising crop of under 18 players come onto the senior list and we have a large core group of second and third year rookies we expect big things from again this season. We are going to rely heavily again on these young men to stand up and play an important role in our side.
2015 Captain:
Matthew Ryan will once again lead the team, in his second season in the role.
Upcoming events:
The club will once again be involved in the annual Good Friday Football event against St.Albans.
Come on down to Kings Park Reserve on Friday April 3- support a great cause and enjoy some local footy!
