SUNSHINE HEIGHTS
It’s been a tough, yet enjoyable pre-season for the Sunshine Heights Football Club, with a mixture of football skills and a new boxercise program preparing the young Dragons for a competitive 2015.
With club legend Robbie Greto returning to lead the seniors this season, club President Vince Sposato said the boys from Ainsworth Reserve are looking forward to Round 1.
Teams fielding in 2015:
This year the club is fielding 4 x junior teams, a Seniors and Reserves side.
How has the pre-season been?
Our pre-season has been quiet enjoyable but hard. The boys have not only been putting in the hard yards on the track but have also been enjoying a boxercise program which was run at the local gym in Sunshine. This has helped them improve their overall fitness and strength and provides a break in the normal pre-season regime, which has worked really well for the players.
Who are some of the noteworthy signings for 2015?
There are no big signings to the club as yet, but we have 5-6 new boys training with us at the moment which we hope to sign up in the next week or so.
What are your expectations for the new season?
This season we are looking to re-build our football club. We expect to win a few games and be as competitive as ever, but above all enjoy our footy and have a fun year.
Any coaching/staff changes this season?
This year we welcome back life member, premiership player and century goal kicker Robbie Greto as our senior coach. Robbie knows the club inside out and has a lot of respect for the club so he has fitted into the role perfectly.
Who are some of the young up and coming players to look out for this year?
Keep an eye out for Justin Zahra and Tom Murray who are both young, hardworking and exciting players.
2015 Captain:
Michael Nicolaides will once again lead the team.
