WERRIBEE DISTRICTS
It was a big 2014 season for Werribee Districts, with two league best and fairest winners and two premiership flags (U14A and U18B) adding to the successful return of its seniors to the WRFL.
With a solid pre-season under its belt, President Rod Harrington says the Tigers are keen for another shot at finals football in 2015.
How many teams will you be fielding this year?
This season we’ll be fielding around 14-15 sides.
How has the pre-season been?
Our pre-season has been really pleasing. Numbers have been consistently good with training being solid.
Who are some of the noteworthy signings for 2015?
A few noteworthy signings this season include Joey Halloran (ex-Altona and Werribee VFL) as well as a host of home-grown players such as Jesse Fortune, Stef Callea, Troy Anderson, Scotty Miller, Shaun McGuiness, Chris Scudamore and Lachie McDowell returning to the fold.
What are your expectations for the new season as a club?
To be as competitive as possible and hopefully compete in the finals again.
Who are the young up and coming players to look out for this year?
Anthony Limina and Jordan Patty who both got a taste of senior football in 2014 plus a number of quality players coming through from last season’s Under 18 grand final team.
Have you had any staff/coaching changes?
Wade Chapman remains as Senior Coach and Darron Batties the reserves coach
Who is the captain(s) for the seniors this year?
Appointments yet to be made but would think Matt Dean and Brent Morrow would again share the role.
