This weekend the WRFL would like to congratulate three senior players who will chalk up their 250th and 300th game milestones this Saturday.
Read more about their careers below:
250 GAMES:
They say ‘Once a Parksider, Always a Parksider’ and it seems that is the case with 24-year-old Igor Bera as he chalks up game 250 in the black and white against Albanvale this Saturday.
First pulling on the boots in 1999 as a junior with the Under 10s side, Igor has been a one-club player his entire career and one of only a few Parkside players to have been part of a team in all three divisions.
Booting 120 career goals, Igor was also part of the Parkside Under 18C grade championship team, taking home the best and fairest award in the same year.
300 GAMES:
It will be a busy day at Kinder Smith Reserve this weekend when two of its favourite sons reach their 300th game milestones.
29-year-old James Nardella will run out for his 300th WRFL game with Sunshine’s Reserves team while teammate Ricky Martin will play his 300th game for the Sunshine Football Club.
Currently captaining the Reserves team, James has been at the Kangaroos for a number of years, taking on various junior coaching positions with the Under 16s and Under 18s in the past few seasons.
Booting 51 career goals, James will be hoping the Roos can cement their spot in the top five and chalk up their fourth win of the season with a victory over Spotswood this Saturday.
Also sharing the milestone is teammate Ricky Martin who will pull on the blue and gold jumper for the 300th time.
Despite being a traditional backman, Ricky has kicked over 133 career goals and has played over 400 WRFL career games.
Originally beginning his football career with the Albion Football Club when he was eight-years-old, Ricky fell into the sport through the help of his babysitter.
Playing football with the Cats until he was a top age U16, he left the club to join the Sunshine Kangaroos to play U18s football with his friends from high school, and has never looked back.
With both men playing in the two recent club premierships with the reserves team in 2008 and 2011, it was only fitting they would share in their milestone match.
Congratulations to all three men playing their milestone this weekend, it’s a fantastic achievement!
