DIVISION THREE ALBANVALE VS WYNDHAM SUNS
The WRFL wishes to advise the outcome of an incident that occurred during the Round 10 Division 3 Senior match between Wyndham Suns (WSFC) and Albanvale (AFC) on Saturday 20th June 2015.
During the fourth quarter the WRFL umpires were requested by the WSFC captain to perform a player count. After following AFL Law 5.5, AFC was recorded as having 18 players on the ground.
Prior to the count and during the fourth quarter, an AFC player was reported and sent from the ground for striking. It is noted that at this time, the player had already been removed from the ground by his coach and was replaced by another AFC player.
Sometime proceeding this, the AFC bench was advised of the report and send off made by a WRFL boundary umpire and subsequently failed to remove a player from the field. This resulted in AFC having an additional player on the field at the time of the count.
In summarising, Rule 5.5.3 of the Laws of the Game states:-
Where a team has more than the permitted number of Players on the Playing Surface, the following shall apply:
(c) The team shall lose all points which it has scored in the Match up to the time of the count.
At the time of the count the scores were Wyndham Suns 7.6.48 to Albanvale 15.10.100. As the count was deemed to be completed as per the Laws of the game the final score for the match will be Wyndham Suns 7.6.48 to Albanvale 1.0.6
The above result has been communicated to all clubs involved and has been amended on the WRFL website.
