THE Yarraville Seddon Eagles and North Footscray Football Clubs will face-off on Saturday, with the result likely to shape who finishes in the top two at the end of the season.
Both clubs have had impressive starts to 2016 and both will look to consolidate their early season form with another win.
North Footscray have won four matches and dropped one to ladder-leaders Caroline Springs and are coming off the bye in Round 6.
The Eagles, on the other hand, have yet to lose from their five starts and have just defeated a gallant Albanvale.
A 10-goal first half was the catalyst to their victory at Robert Bruce Oval at the weekend.
To Albanvale’s credit, the home side managed to fight back in an exciting third term, cutting the margin to just 19 points at third quarter break.
In a tight final quarter, the Cobras couldn’t continue their momentum, with the Eagles claiming a 25-point victory and second spot on the ladder.
Scott Krakouer kicked four goals for the winners, with Lachlan Longmire also chipped in with two goals of his own.
However it was Cameron Vincent who was named the best player on the ground.
For Albanvale, Darren Borg, Jamie Di Cicco, Christopher Curello, David Azzopardi and Anthony Bartolo all kicked two goals.
Meanwhile, Caroline Springs made it back-to-back big wins after they defeated West Footscray by 235-points at Town Centre Oval.
The Lakers kicked just three goals to one in the opening term, but kicked 12 in the second term, 11 in the third quarter and another 12 in the final term.
Brian Lake was the star of the show, kicking a massive 11 goals for the match.
His haul takes his tally to 23 goals for the season, he is six behind team-mate Mathew Sutton, who missed the match.
The Lakers had a nice spread of goal kickers, with 15 players kicking goals on Saturday.
For West Footscray, Travis Brown was the only goal scorer, with the Roosters kept to just one behind for three quarters.
The Lakers will next face Glen Orden at Howqua Reserve, while West Footscray will go head-to-head with Albanvale.
In the final match of the round, Glen Orden made it three wins from as many matches, with an 81-point win against Manor Lakes at Heatherdale Oval.
Hawks star Dane Thomas was the leading goal scorer with five majors, while Josh Macdonald showed off why he was picked in the WRFL Interleague side with four goals.
