Heat not carried away by the top

THE view is oh so nice from the top, but the Townsville Heat are anything but getting carried away.

Townsville completed a golden QBL road trip by pumping the Brisbane Capitals 76-58 on Saturday to add to their equally impressive 92-62 thrashing of the Caboolture Suns on Friday.

The Heat further enhanced their reputation as the league's defensive dynamos as they leapfrogged Gold Coast into first.

"I'm really happy, we played really good defence over the weekend," coach Liam Flynn said.

But it is far from mission accomplished.

The Heat battle fellow high-flyers Rockhampton (Friday) and Mackay (Saturday) in a real test of their credentials.

"Rocky and Mackay are real danger teams," Flynn said.

"We just keep reinforcing to (the players) how tight the league is and that - we're really happy with our weekend - but now we've flushed that we're ready to move on to the big challenge on Friday."

The Townsville Flames also continued their late-season resurgence, winning their fifth game in six outings when they defeated Brisbane 71-59.
