FOR youngster Tiana Gibson playing for Port City Power is a privilege and honour that she still finds overwhelming – even after two years with the side.

Tiana last year shared in the Power’s grand final victory and is looking forward to being part of the team as it goes for three in a row.

“I still think to myself before games, ‘wow I play along side Australian players and WNBL stars’. It is such a privilege to play with these women,” Gibson said.

Tiana was proud to be a part of the Power’s games over the weekend, which she said were two of the most important of the season.

“We played second-placed Mackay and third-placed Bundaberg and the aim was more than just to win. Winning meant that we secured a home final,” Gibson said.

“The nerves I felt prior to both games were unlike any other nerves I have ever felt.”

The Power played a strong game against Mackay 91-72 but its performance on Friday night meant players were tired when they faced Bundaberg.

“We played really well considering how tired we were heading into the game, but it was the second half that we really came through with the goods,” Gibson said.

“We were able to put a lot of points on the board winning 108-75 and most importantly securing ourselves a home final.”
