Wildcats to pounce

DJ Cremasco hopes the inclusion of the Warwick Wildcats in the second-tier Queensland development league this season will boost his chances of a career in the Queensland Basketball League.

The Wildcats will play QBL team Toowoomba Mountaineers tomorrow from 7pm at WIRAC in a trial game.

Last year, DJ played for the Wildcats A-grade team which won the Ag Requirements Regional Basketball League.

"I see this as a stepping stone," he said.

"I want to use D league for experience and be the best player I can and play at the highest level I can achieve."

He has no doubt the Warwick team will perform well.

"Michael McDaniel is good to psych everyone up, Snowy Quinn is the best leader you could play with," DJ said.

His brother Joshua, who was most valuable player in the winning Warwick Green team in the 2011 reserves regional competition, is in the D-league squad.

"I am a bit nervous but D League will make me a better player," Joshua said.

Jay Figuracion will play his first season with the Wildcats after playing in Cebu, in The Philippines, last year.

While the D league doesn't start until April, tomorrow night's Warwick Solar Panels sponsored game against the Mountaineers is a great chance for Warwick coach Jeff Clark to test his team of young guns and experienced players.
