One giant leap for the QBL

Basketball coaches from around the world can now sit in the comfort of their own home and search for the next Andrew Bogut to come exploding onto the scene out of Queensland, with the exciting addition of playing history and career-to-date stats that are now available on the Queensland Basketball League (QBL) website.

A Question - has the 2008 Men's QBL MVP Cameron Tragardh developed his shooting prowess over the last five years or has this ability to achieve high numbers shown up only recently?  Up until now this is a question that could only be truly answered by the dedicated basketball statistician.  Now however, with the assistance of technology partner Sporting Pulse this is something readily available to any basketball fan.  The Answer - He has always been an offensive giant as shown with a massive 522pts (av 24.8ppg) in 2004.  This has steadily grown to a whopping 38.7ppg in 2008 with a total of 697pts for the season.

A Question - What can one expect from Australian Opal Rohanne Cox (Shown above) who has joined the Mackay Meteorettes for the 2009 season?  The Answer - looking at her playing history one can see that she added 23.7ppg and 7.7rpg in 2007 assisting the Townsville Flames to national glory.  This was then followed by a quick stint in 2008 with the Cairns Dolphins where she managed to hit an impressive 52% from the field in 4 games.  With Cox only recently joining the Meteroettes in 2009, the team's odds have shortened considerably.

QBL Manager Steve Brook has been looking forward to these additions to the League for quite some time.  "We've always had alot of historical data available but no real way to effectively show it" Brook said.  "This has been an overdue priority of the League for some time and we are now happy to say that Sporting Pulse have done a fantastic job of building this feature into the website" he said.  "We are now excited to be able to start recognising career milestones and also giving QBL fans a greater insight into the history of our athletes" Brook added.

This giant leap forward for the QBL marks a new and exciting era for the League and is introduced in conjunction with the Leagues new brand (logo attached).   This new brand aligns the League with the national governing body Basketball Australia in a unified approach to modernise and gather momentum for the game.
