COENRAAD RETURNS TO METEORS

The McDonalds Mackay Meteors are pleased to announce that star swingman Tim Coenraad will once again join the team as they push towards a QBL championship in 2011.

Coenraad who played with the McDonalds Meteors last season has agreed to terms for 2011 and will join the team in April at the completion of the National Basketball League season.  Coenraad is currently having a standout NBL season with the Wollongong Hawks averaging 9.3 points per game and 3.1 rebounds per game while also shooting a staggering 40% from behind the 3-point line.

Coenraad was a huge contributor for the Mcdonalds Meteors in last year's QBL, leading the team to the Grand Final against Rockhampton.  McDonalds Meteors Head Coach Grant Kruger believes Coenraad's return is a vital part of making the team go one better this season.

"Making sure Tim returned to Mackay was definitely one of my priorities when I first got the Head Coaching job," Kruger said.

"He is such a talented player who gives us options offensively both inside and out."

"Add to that his speed, size and strength defensively which allows him to cover a number of different positions."

"We'll be looking to him to have another standout season for us," Kruger added.

The McDonalds Meteors will also be looking to Coenraad to fill a spot on the teams 'Leadership Group' and Mackay Basketball General Manager Joel Khalu said a player of Coenraad's calibre was crucial for the club moving forward.

"Tim is a sensational player and on top of that a great role-model for our juniors to inspire too," Khalu said.

"He has now solidified himself as a quality NBL player and will bring us some much needed experience to the program."
