Gold Coast rolls over Bulls

BUNDABERG Bulls coach Adam Curran has asked his team to lift following a disappointing defeat at the hands of Gold Coast Rollers on Sunday.

Gold Coast rolled home with a comfortable 72-64 victory at the Bulls' Win Stadium.

Second from the ladder, the well-honed southern outfit orchestrated a series of scorching offensives and rebound attacks.

Curran said his team had improved substantially since its disappointing Round One loss to Rockhampton, 100-71.

But he said there would need to be plenty left in the tank if his team was to weather the might of the Queensland Basketball League's competition leaders.

“The guys were miles ahead of the week before and improved in intensity but there is still a lot of room for improvement,” Curran said.

On the top of the agenda for Curran will be addressing lapses in offensive execution from Bulls forwards.

“There were some opportunities there that were missed and there were some problems with our attack,” he said.

“We've been back to the drawing board this week, going over the tapes and looking at the plays to try and address it.”

Curran said the team was still ironing out a few bugs as the Queensland state league season gets underway.

“The defensive component of the team has come a long way and if we can bring the offence into line we will start to come into our own,” he said.

“The positive to come out of it is that we've been able to identify what the problems are and try and address them.”

Curran said it would be a busy week at Win Stadium as the Bulls prepare to play South West Metro this weekend.

“It will be a tough game but we will be going into it confident,” he said. “It's definitely within our grasp and we'll be going into it prepared.”

The Bundaberg Bears also lost their Round Two match to Gold Coast Rollers, going down 76-62 at Win Stadium.
