Rollers rally to undo Mountaineers

AN UNDERMANNED Gold Coast Rollers outfit has repelled a dogged Toowoomba to remain the only undefeated team in the Queensland Basketball League.

The Rollers headed into the final quarter of sunday's clash against the Mountaineers in Toowoomba trailing by a point but rallied to win 86-80.

Inspirational forward Scott McGregor again played a full 40 minutes, finishing with 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Guard David Gurney top-scored for the Rollers with 23 points, while Jason Aucoin, who rotated through the centre spot with McGregor as the undersized pair battled import Rashad Chase, had 19 points and 14 boards.

Legan had a match-high 34 points and eight rebounds for Toowoomba, with the Rollers missing defensive specialists Adam Gibson (wrist) and Adam Darragh, who is in the US for a wedding.

The win sets up a mouth-watering road double this weekend against Townsville and Cairns, with the Rollers able to move two games clear at the top of the table if they can win both games on the "Sunshine Swing".
