Power drops off in last

The Gladstone Observer - 31st July

THE Port City Power men's team had fifth-placed Northside worried with only a few points between the teams after the first two quarters.

This was followed by a strong third-quarter from the home team. However, the Power just couldn't overcome the Wizards in the fourth quarter.

At full-time the scoreboard read 87-78 to Northside.

The Power's defence was just not strong enough to hold back the visitors with Northside guard Chris Goulding putting away 43 points for his team.

Keith Borgan had another high scoring game solidifying his presence and role in the team.

James Cripe also proved dangerous on the court following last week's foul out, racking up 19 points for his team.

The efforts of Gladstone youngster Tim Barnes could not go unnoticed.

He scored six points for his side, placing him up there in good company among the imports and seniors of the game in the points scored during the match statistics.

Next Friday night the Power hosts Mackay which is currently second on the ladder and last met the Power in round one of the series defeating them 85-53.

The Power then has to back up the following night and travel to Bundaberg.

Bundaberg is only two places ahead of the Power on the ladder.

This game is expected to be a tough one with both teams having nothing to lose.
