Rollers out of the QBL

goldcoast.com.au | August 14th, 2011

THE Rollers' Queensland Basketball League season is over after a heart-breaking 87-86 loss to Brisbane in their knockout quarter-final.

Missing representative players Adam Gibson (Boomers) and Christian Salecich (World University Games) and injured captain Jason Aucoin (knee) and with their bid to have former NBL player Thalo Green registered for the finals denied, the Rollers knew yesterday's sudden-death final was going to be tough.

Gold Coast Blaze squad member Tom Garlepp was outstanding for Brisbane, finishing with 22 points, eight rebounds and two blocks despite the best defensive efforts of Scott McGregor, who himself had 23 points and seven rebounds.

David Gurney had 23 points for the Coast in another strong offensive effort but it was Brisbane's bench that propelled them to the win.
