Bring it on

THAT'S the message out of the McDonald’s Meteors and Global Product Search Meteorettes camps before tomorrow night’s QBL semi-final showdowns in Mackay and Gladstone.

The two squads “warmed up” with a fun, exhibition match yesterday against the St Mary’s Catholic Primary School basketball team.

Meteorettes point guard Heidi Freeburn said last weekend’s quarter-final win was just what the team needed.

“All the pressure is on Gladstone,” she said.

“Everyone wants to beat Gladstone and they’re expected to win. For us, we’ll just stay pretty relaxed.”

They will take it one game at a time, Freeburn said.

“We can’t really even think about the second game, because we’ve got to get through the first one first.”

The Meteors will host the semi-finals and grand final.

“We’ve got a good test this week against Brisbane. They got us last time at home, so it’s a bit of a grudge match for us,” forward Tim Coenraad said.

“We love the home crowd. They do a great job supporting us.

“Every time you make a big shot they give you that extra energy boost. We’re really looking forward to having a packed house.”
