Bears forward to lead Mountaineers

TOOWOOMBA Mountaineers women continue to build an impressive roster for the upcoming Queensland Basketball League season.

The Mountaineers have agreed to terms with former Bundaberg Bears forward Kisha Lee.

Lee, a native of Chicago, attended the University of Nevada Las Vegas before coming to Australia two years ago to play for Bundaberg.

Last season, she averaged 16.9 points per game and 8.1 rebounds for the Bears and looks primed to repeat that success in Toowoomba.

Mountaineers coach Harry Spencer said he was excited about having an experienced QBL campaigner to lead the local talent around the court.

"Our program is slowly coming together," he said.

"Kisha was an integral part of Bundaberg's success and we hope she will be for us too.

"Whilst her average was down last season, we know what she can deliver.

"Last year she put 19 points and 10 rebounds on us and we had a great defensive team.

"For our team to have someone to attack the basket like this and also rebound will add an extra dimension."

Lee's arrival follows the announcement that Cleveland State guard Janelle Adams would join the club in 2012.

Spencer said the recruitment of two new imports had lifted the team's spirits after three years without success.

"The players are very excited about the possibility of playing with both Janelle and Kisha," he said.

"We hope to have some success this season."
