Bundaberg Basketball are pleased to announce the appointment of Ryan Burns to the BR Bears as an Assistant Coach, after several years working for FIBA as the Oceania Zone Development Officer. Making several visits to Bundaberg in February Burns has now relocated to the Rum City to help prepare the BR Bears for their Championship Assault, Burns is making the most of his time in Bundaberg and also working with the clubs Junior Members.

A Before working for FIBA Burns studied for his Bachelor of Applied Science in Sports Coaching and coached Bulleen in the Victorian Championship for Under 12, 14 and 16 Boys, worked with the Victoria Metro U16 Boys, the Australian Under 21 Men’s National Team, was a Network Coach for Basketball Australia’s National Intensive Training Centre Program and the Head Men’s Basketball Coach of the Australian Catholic University.

Burns comments on joining the club, “I'm excited to be joining Bundaberg Basketball and getting involved in the positive, elite and successful culture that the club has demonstrated recently. I'll be bringing my international experience and junior development focus and am looking forward to working with all of the coaches and senior/junior athletes involved with club. A strong junior competition and development program are the key foundations for success at all levels and this will be a priority area. I'm really looking forward to making a contribution to making Bundaberg one of the strongest associations in Queensland.”
