The 'King'ma of Gladstone dominates the Capitals!

The Gladstone Power registered their second and much needed win of 2009 on Sunday afternoon to close out Round 5 of the QBL and send the Brisbane Capitals packing.  The 'king' of Gladstone Michael Kingma was in red hot form and tore apart the Capitals with a massive double-double (15pts, 21rbs, 2asts, 2blks, 2stls).  After a convincing win over the Bulls on Saturday night (100-84), the Capitals arrived ready for action in Gladstone but only managed to perform for 1 quarter.  The Capitals entered the 2nd quarter with a 1pt lead (21-20) with this being the last time they saw the lead for the remainder of the game.

Power import Esparza proving money well spent for the team with 23pts, 13rbs, 3asts, 2blks, 2stls - this combined with strong efforts from Simanic and Cochran was a mix that the Capitals had no answer for.  Capitals were left down with poor conversion rates from outside (11 of 40) while the Power were rewarded with 500% more opportunities from the line where they hit 25 of 35 to the Capitals 6 of 7.

The Gladstone Power Women were also successful with a 90-78 win over the Brisbane Capitals moving into a comfortable 7th on the ladder to keep their season sailing in the right direction.
