The linked formation of the New Zealand team during the interrupted rendition of their national anthem demonstrated the cohesion of the team which was very evident during the game against the team from Barbados.
The New Zealand team played with skill and flair which left the Barbados team wanting. The final score between the teams was New Zealand 102, Barbados 24.
Paula Griffin’s skills as goal shoot were very evident to all during this match where her height was also an advantage. On the one or two occasions that she actually missed a goal, she was able to whip the ball from the air and take the goal cleanly the second time round.  She was ably assisted in the goal circle by Alanah Cassidy. Together they achieved 78 of the 102 goals that New Zealand shot in the first three quarters. Kayla Cullen and Grace Rasmussen didn’t let up in the last quarter either, adding another 24 points before the end of the game. Barbados had to work hard during a fast moving game to get their 24 points. 
Tomorrow New Zealand play Trinidad and Tobago who narrowly lost to Northern Ireland 43-45 in the match played tonight on Court 2.
